Sinkhole swallows road in Bridge of Allan

Stirling Council have closed part of Kenilworth Road, close to the entrance to the University of Stirling’s campus, after a sinkhole swallowed part of the tarmac.

Kenilworth Road from its junction with Sheriffmuir Road to its junction with the A9, Airthrey Road, has now been closed.

Due to the sinkhole, a diversion has been put in place via Kenilworth Road and Well Road.

The council have placed barriers around the sinkhole while an urgent investigation gets underway.

Customers urged to get tested after COVID cases linked to Stirling bar

NHS Forth Valley are requesting anyone who visited Tingle Bar in Stirling from Friday 21 to Wednesday 26 to get a COVID-19 PCR test.

This comes after a number of cases have been reported connected to the cocktail and sports bar on King Street.

Due to this, NHS Forth Valley are urging visitors to the bar from Friday 21 – Wednesday 26 to book a PCR test for COVID-19.

Man taken to hospital after fire in City Centre

A man has been taken to hospital after a fire in Stirling city centre.

At 8.52pm on Thursday 6 May emergency services rushed to an incident in the city centre, after a fire broke out.

Since then a 24-year-old man has been taken into hospital, however his condition is unknown.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 8.52pm on Thursday, 6 May Police Scotland attended an address in Stirling in response to a house fire.

Report highlights issues of sexual violence at Stirling

A survey of 148 current and former staff and students at the university, has found that 53% had experienced sexual violence or harassment.

The report published by Reclaim Stirling has shown that the prevalence of sexual violence within the university is “high.”

The report was a series of questions on whether participants had experienced any case of sexual violence or harassment.

Fire crews issue update after blaze ripped through Ayrshire chip shop

The cause of a blaze that ripped through a chip shop last night is still being probed by officials.

Emergency services raced to Prestwick Main Street just after 8.30pm as smoke was seen pouring from The Chippy.

Around four fire appliances descended on the Ayrshire town's busiest street along with police and ambulance crews.

A Facebook post from the chip shop said the takeaway had suffered an "electrical fire".

Body identified as missing Stirling student

A body found in the Firth of Forth two weeks ago has been identified as Rodwhan Ali Al Montsir, a Stirling student who was recently reported missing.

Rodwhan Ali Al Montsir was last seen on July 29, at Bridgehaugh Road in Stirling, which is next to university accommodation John Forty’s Court.

His body was found off Preston Island on August 5, but has only just been identified.

Police Scotland recently issued an appeal for information on his whereabouts.

Uni Receives Backlash Over Master’s Research Survey

The University of Stirling has received some backlash over a survey that was produced for a student’s Master’s research last month.

Images emerged over social media with questions based around autism, the questions looked at to which extent you would be willing or unwilling to interact with someone with autism.

Uni brings suspensions of Stirling students to an early end

Six weeks into the suspension some of the Stirling student’s suspension have come to an end early.

Uni backtracks on decision to restrict campus access

The University of Stirling has been forced to change its decision on stopping access to the campus for members of the public.

This comes after signs appeared around the university campus entrances on Thursday.

The signs said the university grounds were restricted to the public, and only campus residents could use the grounds for exercise purposes.
